I realize you already have your validation, but I wanted to add one item in reponse to Scorpion's message.

I also have NO problem in the morning and many in the afternoon, BUT I live in Phoenix AZ and we do not have humidity (I mean none, its the desert). I have been assuming it was the heat of the day (not that that makes any more sence to me).
Though possibly not a good solution I have also noticed that pulling the clutch, going to Neutral and THEN turning off the engine (all while rolling/coasting to a stop)someitmes eliminates the shotgun BANG.

I LOVE the rumble, but watching people dive for the concrete when I stop at a gas station is loosing its humor value (let alone blue flames shooting out of my tailpipe).
